BC: Teachers Still Asking For The Moon

Author: Jordan Bateman 2014/06/17

Well, it turned even uglier yesterday in the battle between the B.C. government and the B.C. Teachers Federation. Hard to believe that could be possible, yet here we are.

As you entertain your children on this, a BCTF strike day, take a look at this breakdown of what the government is offering, and what the teachers are demanding.

The government estimates the BCTF demands would cost taxpayers $2 billion a year – plus $150 million in signing bonuses. To put that into context, the total education budget in this province is $5.4 billion.

NOT GOING TO HAPPEN. The sooner teachers get realistic about the state of finances in B.C., and what taxpayers can afford, the sooner we will see a deal.
